Project Status (as of April 9, 2019)
The revaluation of the Borough of Hawthorne has been completed in accordance with the rules and regulations mandated by the State of New Jersey requiring all real property be appraised at its fair market value.
Any property owner who wishes to dispute the 2020 assessed value may file an appeal with the Passaic County Board of Taxation. You can request an appeal package by calling (973) 720-7399 or Appeal forms and instructions can be obtained by visiting the Tax Board’s website: https://www.passaiccountynj.org/government/boards_committees_and_commissions/tax_documents_and_information.php Please note that appeals must be received (not merely postmarked) on or before May 15, 2020. At the time of your appeal you should be prepared to demonstrate any evidence supporting your opinion of fair market value, such as recent sales of similar properties in your area.
